‘Our Great Britain’ Christmas Show Tickets

As I’ve had so many people requesting tickets for the Christmas Show & Party already, I thought I’d confirm that emails will be sent out the week before half term with all details.  Wristbands will be available from the day the email is sent.  I may need to restrict numbers this year as, even though we’re in a much bigger premises, the Dance School has grown so much! icon smile Our Great Britain Christmas Show Tickets

If I don’t get a chance to say it before tomorrow, huge luck to all the wonderful Kandeez Dancers in tomorrow night’s Christmas Show, ‘Back to Our Roots.’  You have worked hard for this, now’s the time to show what you can do!  Give it your all and enjoy!

Waddesdon Press Day report…

I’ve had excellent reports from Waddesdon re yesterday’s Press Day. Well done to all our performers. Audition – Waddesdon Manor Christmas Opening

We are honoured to be asked, for the second year running, to supply performers for the opening of Waddesdon Manor at Christmas. This year’s theme is Italy…!

Everyone should have now received an email detailing all audition info, rehearsal schedule and performance info.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Workshop Marquee

12.00pm – DISCO FREESTYLE DANCE with KANDEEZ (30 mins only)  

Fun warm up, introduction to moves and learn some routines. Upbeat, fast and funky dancing with Kandeez Dance.

12.30pm – Learn to Hawaiian Hula (30 mins only)

Suitable for all ages, young and old! Instructed by Tina-Louise and The Bellyrinas

1.00pm  and 3.30pm – BHANGRA DANCE (30 mins only)  

An ancient folk dance that originates from ‘Punjab’ (five rivers), North India.  It is a harvest dance is performed during harvest time in India during the season of ‘Vaisakh’ in April.  This dance is very energetic as all the moves depict the daily work of the farmers out in the fields.  Today, it has become very popular and has evolved with western music.  Brit Asia – The Journey is a project delivered by N-GAGE, funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.

1.30pm and 4.00pm – BOLLYWOOD DANCE (30 mins only)

The Indian ‘modern’ dance which encompasses different dance genres.   These genres can range from, hip hop, street dance to classical folk and classical Indian dance.  The music is very vibrant as are the dances.  These dances are used in ‘Bollywood Films’ of which one was shot at Waddesdon Manor called ‘Khabhie Khusie Khabhie Gham’ (Sometimes happiness, sometime sadness).  Bollywood music, dance and films have been introduced to the western stages, Andrew Lloyd Webber brought Bollywood to the West End Stage with his production of ‘Bombay Dreams’.  Brit Asia – The Journey is a project delivered by N-GAGE, funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.

2pm – URBAN STRIDES – THE STREET DANCE SPECIALISTS! 

Urban Strides are known for their on stage energy and raw passion. They have performed with stars such as McFly, Sean Paul and Dizzee Rascal. They were the first Street Dance Crew in the world to perform at The Royal Variety Performance and have recently completed their third 15 date Arena Tour.

3.00pm – Learn to Belly Dance (30 mins only)

Suitable for all ages, young and old! Instructed by Tina-Louise and The Bellyrinas

Fountain Tent

11am, 12pm – DHOL DRUMMING

Learn traditional Dhol rhythms using simple basic ancient notations called ‘bol’. The sessions will be taught step-by-step by Harvi Mahli of Dance Sansaar. Dhol Drumming is a fascinating instrument made of a trunk of a tree and two skins at either end (treble and bass) that creates a huge sound and is played with two sticks (dagga and thilli).  The more simple rhythms are easily learnt by anyone that likes a challenge.  Brit Asia – The Journey is a project delivered by N-GAGE, funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.

1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm – Aylesbury Waterside Theatrical Make Up Demonstrations Come along and watch how a professional make up artist works in this insightful demonstration by Chris Dennis. Chris will show you the secrets used for stage and screen make up effects, including some gory ones.
